Coffee Resurrect is the first bio-tech startup in Ethiopia that is harnessing coffee waste to produce sustainable and environmentally-friendly consumer goods and food products.
While coffee is one of the most popularly consumed beverages on the planet, people often don’t realize that coffee-related waste has a severe impact, from turning soil acidic to releasing greenhouse gases.
This is why Coffee Resurrect is working to provide solutions that can minimize coffee's environmental impact. The startup repurposes coffee waste from cafes to create coffee oil, flour and fiber which are key ingredients for cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceutical and food industries.
The innovative startup was named one of the top 100 startups at the Entrepreneurship World Cup in 2021 and the only national and regional finalist at the competition representing Ethiopia.
